ABOUT CHRIS LEE

      Chris Lee is a currently a member of the City Council in Tuskegee, Alabama. At age 24, Chris was the youngest person in history to be elected to Public Office in Tuskegee. He performs double duty as Vice Chairman of the Utilities Board of Tuskegee (UBT). Passionate about his hometown and confident that he had substantive ideas that would create economic growth and sustainability, Lee ran for the District 1 City Council seat in 2012 and won. This historically rich neighborhood includes Tuskegee University and two national landmarks — the George Washington Carver Museum and The Oaks, the family home of Booker T. Washington.

        A 2010 graduate of Hampton University, Lee has been on the fast track to success. Prior to returning home to Tuskegee, he interned at the White House in the Office of Presidential Correspondence with the Obama administration. He also worked on Capitol Hill as a Governmental Affairs Liaison with the National Association for Equal Opportunity in Higher Education (NAFEO). While at NAFEO Chris gained valuable experience advocating on behalf of Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), which put him in position to serve Tuskegee University even before the 2012 election formalized this role.
